Class Description
Class I Easy - fast moving water with riffles, small waves and few obstructions
Class II Novice - straight forward rapids with wide, clear channels
Class III Intermediate - rapids with moderate, irregular waves, strong eddies, powerful currents, rocks and other obstacles
Class IV Advanced - intense, powerful but predictable rapids, large unavoidable waves and large rocks to maneuver around
Class V Expert - extremely long, obstructed or very violent rapids; dangerous swims
Class VI Extreme - exemplifies the extremes of difficulty, unpredictability and danger; may be unrunnable or very rarely run
