Float & Hike Trout Fishing TripsGold Medal Trout waters? Native Cutthroat above treeline? Guided Floats through Browns Canyon National Monument? Yep, we've got that.
The Arkansas River
|Buena Vista is located in the heart of the Upper Arkansas River Valley. The Arkansas River is known as a world class fishery, as the largest continuous section of Colorado's Gold Medal designated trout waters with 102 of the state's 322 miles. Browns Canyon National Monument is one of the most famous and preserved stretches of this beautiful freestone river.
The best times to fish the Canyon are late July through the end of August, when the water level drops and fish are better able to see and hit dry flies, nymphs, and spinners. The action is steady with varied enough water for a wide range of experience levels.
Rafts allow fishermen to work through water that is hard to access in a traditional drift boat, and because a lot of the water in the Canyon is impossible to fish without watercraft, there is notably less fishing pressure here than on many other sections of the river. The beauty of Browns Canyon National Monument is undeniable. There's a reason several groups, including Friends of Browns Canyon and Trout Unlimited, worked for years to protect this area!
*Participants 16 and older must have a state fishing license. Licenses are not available at Noah's Ark.All trip prices are subject to tax and user fees charged by the USFS, BLM and/or Colorado Headwaters State Parks, and land or water access fees up to 9% added to activities.
